17. While growing up in the South, my family always called it drinks. Get a carton of drinks (which was always Coke). I've moved many times in my adult life. I've heard it called many things. I have settled on soft drinks if I am telling people to bring their desired soda.

18. As a young girl growing up we called it co cola. I originated from North Carolina grew up in Florida. Now if I have a variety in my fridge i say to guest let me see what kind of soda we have. If I have no variety I call it outby name. Also I keep other beverages you would be surprised by how many people choose fresh squeezed Lemon aid. I know I am even though I am a co cola drinker.

20. I live in Iowa and here they call it Pop, although I (hispanic) call it soda. Not only does the name seem to change in different states but it also changes amongst cultures. When I go to a restraunt where it is "American dominated" I need to ask for a pop or call the drink by it's name. When I go to a Mexican restraunt I can ask for a soda and a Pepsi or coke is brought to me.

21. Growing up in Ohio, I always asked for "pop". When I moved to North Carolina, my Baptist mother in law said we needed to "go for drinks". I looked at her and asked when she started going to bars! She very quickly informed me that we needed some Cokes.

I second all that Janice had to say-being a born and raised New Jerseyan who drinks ONLY Pepsi lol, I appreciate being asked "Is coke ok?", because NO it isn't :))))) If I can't get a Pepsi, I would rather drink water-or just about anything other than Coke. But the point is, Janice has said it all much better than I could have!

Here in Michigan, where I've lived my entire life except for a few years in NC, it's NEVER been soda. It's always been pop.
When we lived in NC for a few years, we had to switch to "soda" or "drink". I'll never get the last one.

25. I grew up in Southeast Michigan and always called soft drinks POP, but now in Virgina it is called by most SODA, when I take my kids back to Michigan they always laugh whent the relatives call it POP

26. I think its totally rediculous to call a cola, a soda. A soda is something that is made from ice cream and 'pop'. And weirder yet, is to call a cola a tonic. Tonic is a clear drink one makes with several other pop items to make a carbonated drink. People really need to learn how to speak correctly. Like for instance, just listen to those who say the prefix, "UN". I dont know where it came from but all of a sudden the universe is calling it "ON". ONbelievable, ONreal, ONwrap, and it goes on and on. What ever happened to the ever so popular "UNcola"? Amazing how people dont use correct language.

27. I'm from the DC area where I'm a "soda" girl. However, when I visited Chicago as a child, I was amazed to hear it called "pop".

28. Where I come from . . . Maryland . . . it's soda. Soda is any carbonated beverage be it coke, pepsi, sprit, whatever. You have to specify which beverage you want, for me, it's always been an ice cold Pepsi.

29. I was born and raised in Michigan, and we always called it can of pop, or bottle of pop. I now live in Georgia, and I still call it Pop, and have had no trouble with anyone understanding what I want.

30. Growing up in Michigan... pop was for the bubbly carbonated selections and a soda meant "pop" with a scoop of icecream plopped in for a real summer treat :)

16. I dont' like soda, but I do drink Seltzer. Now, everyone in NY knows what that is. But when I try ordering it on a plane, even one leaving NY, I get blank stares from the flight attendant. What do other people call Seltzer?
